tropical facade system india

Leveraging traditional louver as a springboard for research and development, this building façade technology proposes an alternative window solution for tropical conditions. The system consists of three interconnected components: 1) pre-fabricated pressed bamboo louver, 2) forged mild-steel hardware, and 3) reinforced cement concrete structure. A hybrid language has been nurtured through the combination of bamboo, concrete and steel. Traditional skills of weaving and forging fuse with contemporary technologies of casting and pressing. Key system attributes include safety, ergonomics, aesthetics, modularity, affordability, durability, packaging, quick assembly and disassembly, material and dimensional flexibility, fireproof and waterproof performance and low-tech hand-based operability. The tropical façade technology balances the hand-based with the machine-based, and contributes to a new potentiality.
