Sanjeev Shankar was born in Nilgiris, India.

An alumnus of the Architectural Association, London; Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Sanjeev Shankar uses his training in design, architecture and ethnography to merge traditional crafts-based knowledge with contemporary and emerging cultural and technological trends. A recipient of the British chevening scholarship and the DAAD fellowship from Germany, his work has been featured at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London; Smart Lab in Paris; Doors of Perception conference in Delhi; Liverpool School of Art and Design; Media-Ecologies workshop in St. Erme; International Project Platform in Frankfurt; Pecha Kucha night, Craft Nouveau session and Gro-world design session in Brussels. He was recently shortlisted for the Emerging Architecture awards at RIBA, London and has won the Great Ideas Program by IIT Bombay.

His recent works include Jugaad (New Delhi); We All Fly (Toowoomba); Silent Rivers (Brussels); WcCafe (Singapore); Mindshadows (Toronto); Chai (New Delhi) and Bi-cultural footwear (Mumbai).
